NOTES/Remarks:   The speaker for February 6th will be Susan Reeks regarding “Relay for Life”..(Programming note: Lion Bill Alexander will have a speaker for us on February 13th.

·                    March 7th – Irish Auction at the University Club – Din-din at 6:30 p.m. and the auction at 7:00 p.m. – we need lots of prizes to be donated and lots of guests (Lion Jennie Moore is chairing).

·                    April 25th – Rose Day tickets are on order (Lion Stuart Reeks is the chair)

·                    The “Book” sales are going well… Lion Craig Kennedy wants to conclude the project so please hurry

·                    Lion Robert Schwartz is assembling a committee to address acquisition and retention of Lions members

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau had had a “hay day”.  He fined all members not wearing their vest in the day’s meeting and has declared this Thursday (2/6) as also being a “vest day.”  Today’s trivia regarded television questions (and a few answers)… Visiting Lion 8-L Vice-District Governor furnished a very nice picture frame for the TT to auction – Lion Stuart Reeks was the top bidder at $7.00

Program:  Lion Craig Kennedy introduced our program chair for the day: VDG Bonnie Pharr.  Bonnie will be next year’s 8-L District Governor and she is asking for all members’ help in keeping Lionism viable.  She also thanked our club for all its contributions to the community.  The LCIF is down 30% and need our support… The Children’s’ Camp workday is March 15th & 16th and works is needed inside and outside to prepare for this summer’s camp guests.  Camp Director Bob Moss is retiring but will remain on the board in search of a new director…. The Eyebank needs donations via driver licenses… It also needs our support on the Board and nominations for board members are due in by November 1st.  Lions need to work to be more visible in the community and we need all the coverage possible on TV, radio, newspaper, etc.  Need to try and get members of these organizations as Lion club members. (Note: Lion Mike Middleton did an excellent job on television this week promoting the Foundation’s Corvette auction…..Also, VDG announced that our district is down 2 clubs and her goal is to start 4 new clubs. It is a doable goal and such success will avoid re-districting of the District – we simply need at least 2 new clubs to remain viable….The VDG will be a hard-worker but she certainly needs our help – jump on the wagon with her!!!
