PRAYERS:  The Club and all of its members who were not present.  

 

VISITING:   PDG Paul Little had his beautiful wife, Martha aka “Red”.

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  Call Lion Merle Gore and ask him – he be in charge.

 

BOARD MEETING: NEXT WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2005 AT 12:00 NOON.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

¨      Lion Scott Harkey announced the success the Club had at the annual Shreveport Police Award and Appreciation Banquet.  Scott assumed the command of the project for the Agurs Business Association.  He succeeds Lion Craig Kennedy who originated the annual project idea and who headed it up for all these years.  Over 120 pounds of catfish were fried, 286 steaks were cooked to perfection and all the trimmings.  Lion Jimmie Giles – and later Lion Ed Ball sounded accolades for the project and particularly for Lion Scott Harkey.  Scott’s helpers who prepped and cooked were Tom Festervan and Jeff Cheshire.   NSLC members assisting this year included: Lions Scott Harkey, Jimmie Giles, Stuart Reeks, Oscar Smith, Gloria Kennedy, Merle Gore, Russ Peterson, Pete Copes, Bryan Self, Bud Byrd, Ed Ball, and Jim Peck.

¨      February 6th, 2:00-400 p.m. – District 8L Cabinet Meeting, Minden Community House, 209 Birdwell – 2 blocks behind Brookshires.

¨      A check for $1,000 was given to the club today.  The money is from Sam’s Wholesale Club and represents the Wal-Mart Foundation.. Lions Mike Middleton & Ed Ball secured this unexpected prize.

¨      On behalf of Lion Hubert Gleason, Lion Scott Harkey announced a profit from the annual NSLC Nut and Candy sales: $1,084.30  -- GREAT JOB!!!

¨      March 17th, The annual North Shreveport Irish Auction – start collecting items for auction which have a value of more than $50 – plan to come out and have lots of fun and garner lots of great items.

¨      May 6th, The annual Rose Day delivery – this is the weekend of Mothers’ Day – EASY SALES!!!

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Archambeau had Lion Paul Little passing the pot.  Lion Allen Yokem and wife, Kelly will be having an anniversary this month.  The TT then had lots of entertainment and funny stuff.  It was another great session.

 

PROGRAM: Lion Patricia Schwartz introduced our speaker, Lion Ed Ball.  Ed told of a system he uses which may benefit some of our members – Asset Shifting. 

 

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 red ticket winners were: Lions Merle Gore and Oscar Smith .

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Robbie Raiford failed to pull the Queen for $95.00.

ATTENDANCE: Lion Bob Allen was here to claim the $25.00 attendance prize.
