PRAYERS: Our prayers go to Lions Robert
and Patricia Schwartz – Robert’s dad died
this week and the funeral is today near Leesville. Lion Gloria
Kennedy was here today and noted that
Lion Craig Kennedy has been diagnosed with an ulcer.
VISITING: Lion Cindy Fortson had husband Jim Fortson.

February 26th – Lion Jimmie Giles will have
someone from the Naval Museum
March 4th – Lion Oscar Smith will present
a pharmaceutical representative.
NOTES/Remarks:
BOARD MEETING
– WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 11TH AT 12:00 NOON
- A Cub Sight Screening will be held on Monday, February
9th at Montessori off East Washington. Another one will be on February 24th
at St. Marks School. Lion Gloria
Kennedy (631.7498) needs lots of help and both days begin at 9:00 a.m.
- The information/recruiting meeting for a new Bossier
evening club was held at the Arena Barbecue Restaurant on February 3rd.
Sixteen potential members were treated by NSLC to dinner – Lion
Mike will be doing some follow-ups.
- March 6th – Mid-winter Conference –
location still being considered.
- Lions Scott Harkey and Patricia Schwartz will
be heading up the Irish Auction for 2004.
It will be on March 19th at Sword Sports on North Market.
We need lots of people to participate and need lots of items to be
auctioned. Please acquire items with a value of at
least $50 each. Smaller items can
still be used as door prizes.
- Lion Stuart Reeks will
be the Rose Day chairperson. The
date will be May 7th – please calendar it sell roses and come
help to deliver.
- A reception is being planned for March 21st
at the State Exhibit Museum. The
guest will be the granddaughter of Helen Keller. Please plan to attend and show our appreciation
for her traveling to Shreveport. More details available later.
Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion
Bryan Self passing the pot. Lion Gloria paid her 10% for winning
last week’s attendance prize of $15.00. Lion
Alan Yokem was singled-out for February being both his wedding and club
anniversary month. After some more
bantering, the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire questions were asked.
Lions Scott and Bryan made presentations – Scott’s was
a great inspirational thought on a story entitled “Who Packed Your Chute
Today?”
Program: Lion Stuart Reeks introduced Andre’ Menard.
She has been a Lions Camp counselor since 1996. She gave us her perspective on being a counselor
and how much she has gained from the satisfaction of helping others. She introduced Alicia Ketchum who has attended
the camp as a participant as well as serves as a counselor. Alicia has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to
a high tech wheel chair wired to a computer which allows her to converse with
a synthesized voice based on what she enters into the computer. She hopes that the Camp will continue to be
a reality – but she would like to see more people give money so a camp for
older participants to continue at the camp.
Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were:
Lions Hubert Gleason and Russ Peterson.
BLUE TICKET: Lion Bryan
Self failed to draw the Queen of Hearts.
Attendance Prize: Lion Bobby Rosett was
not present to collect the start-over pot.
