Opening:  Presiding: President Lion Ed Ball; Prayer: Lion Chaplain Jim Peck; Pledge: Lion Steve Davitt, Leading the song was Lion Bryan Self and Lion Mike Middleton sounding the cymbals -- Lion Robbie Raiford on the piano.

 

PRAYERS:   Our prayers go to Lions Robert and Patricia Schwartz – Robert’s dad died this week and the funeral is today near Leesville.  Lion Gloria Kennedy was here today and noted that Lion Craig Kennedy has been diagnosed with an ulcer.

 

VISITING:  Lion Cindy Fortson had husband Jim Fortson.

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM (2/5):  PROVIDENCE HOUSE

February 26th – Lion Jimmie Giles will have someone from the Naval Museum

March 4th – Lion Oscar Smith will present a pharmaceutical representative.

BOARD MEETING – WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 11TH AT 12:00 NOON

 

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Bryan Self passing the pot. Lion Gloria paid her 10% for winning last week’s attendance prize of $15.00.  Lion Alan Yokem was singled-out for February being both his wedding and club anniversary month.  After some more bantering, the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire questions were asked.  Lions Scott and Bryan made presentations – Scott’s was a great inspirational thought on a story entitled “Who Packed Your Chute Today?”

 

Program:  Lion Stuart Reeks introduced Andre’ Menard.  She has been a Lions Camp counselor since 1996.  She gave us her perspective on being a counselor and how much she has gained from the satisfaction of helping others.  She introduced Alicia Ketchum who has attended the camp as a participant as well as serves as a counselor.  Alicia has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a high tech wheel chair wired to a computer which allows her to converse with a synthesized voice based on what she enters into the computer.  She hopes that the Camp will continue to be a reality – but she would like to see more people give money so a camp for older participants to continue at the camp.

 

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Hubert Gleason  and Russ Peterson.

 

BLUE TICKET: Lion Bryan Self failed to draw the Queen of Hearts.

 

Attendance Prize: Lion Bobby Rosett was not present to collect the start-over pot.

 

MAJOR PROJECTS: Louisiana Lions Childrens’ Camp, LSU Lions’ Eye Foundation, Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools
