Visitors: Mr. Trey Gleason (agent for New York Life), son and chauffer for Lion Hubert Gleason; also, member-in-waiting, Garry Lipscomb.

NOTES/Remarks: The speaker for February 13th will be as determined by Lion Bill Alexander.  Lion Charles Smith will have a surprise speaker for us on the 20th of February – a real mystery!!!

·                    March 7th – Irish Auction at the University Club – Din-din at 6:30 p.m. and the auction at 7:00 p.m. – we need lots of prizes to be donated and lots of guests (Lion Jennie Moore is chairing).

·                    April 25th – Rose Day tickets are on order (Lion Stuart Reeks is the chair)

·                    The “Book” sales are going well… Lion Craig Kennedy wants to conclude the project so please hurry with the books or the money (preferred).

·                    USA-Canada Forum September 18th-20th in Seattle, Washington.

·                    Congrats to Lion Patricia Schwartz on pending vote as making her our 3rd V-P.

·                    Lions Ed Ball, Gloria Kennedy and Stuart Reeks met with NSLC’s Leo Club at Northwood on the last date.  We have 59 Leo members at Northwood…  Also, on April 10th, we hope to have our regular meeting at NHS.

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau did a great job with Lion Gabby Garbarino holding the pot.  Several late folks: Lions Jim Peck and Alan Yokem. He fined all members not wearing their vest in the day’s meeting and he got the Prez for a late starting meeting.  Today’s trivia regarded television questions (and a few answers)…

Program:  Lion Gloria Kennedy introduced our program for the day: Susan Reeks, wife of Lion Stuart Reeks.  She told of Relay for Life an annual event fundraiser for the local Chapter of the American Cancer Society.  This year’s event is on May 2nd at Lee Hedges Stadium from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.  Susan preceded her explanation of Relay for Life by telling events which led to the cancer death of their daughter – Cory.  More information is available from Susan at 318.455.8558 or email: sreeks@redriverradio.com.  Bear in mind you can also purchase a luminary candle for $10 in memory of someone you know or who has experienced cancer in the past – this is a great way to get involved and to help the Cancer Society if you cannot actually attend the May 2nd event. We should involve ourselves in this very worthy project!

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Gloria Kennedy and Harold Wright.

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Paul Little took the chance and he drew the 9 of spades.

Attendance Prize: Lion Donny Floyd would have won – but he wasn’t at the meeting.

MAJOR PROJECTS: Louisiana Lions Childrens’ Camp, LSU Eye Foundation, Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools
