Opening:  Presiding: President Lion Stuart Reeks; Prayer: Chaplain Jim Peck; Pledge: Lion Hubert Gleason; Song: Lion Bill Alexander, Lion Jimmie Giles sounding the cymbals.

 

PRAYERS:  The Club and all of its members who were not present.  Dot Archambeau’s wife, Dot is in Schumpert Medical Center.

 

VISITING:   PDG Paul Little had his beautiful wife, Martha aka “Red”.

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  Lion Bryan Self will have us a speaker for the 17th.  On February 24th, Lion Bud Byrd will present editor and publisher of The Inquisitor, Danny Lawler. 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

¨      The Board agreed yesterday to purchase table skirting for the room’s tables.  The check is signed and the skirting is up.  Come see the newly remodeled NSLC room. If you know Mr. Harold Sater of Taylor Rentals, call him up and thank his for the great price he gave us for the acquisition of the skirts.

¨      Eye Bank members elected at the 8-L Cabinet Meeting:  Non-Lions Judy Moore and Charles Huggins, Lions Jim Maker and Ed Kneipp.

¨      February 15th, 6:00-7:00 a.m. – Channel 3 to host some Lions folks about the Lions Camp.  Applications can be downloaded off the website

¨      State Convention the weekend of April 29th in Baton Rouge. Pres. Reeks has the information.  All Lions are encouraged to attend.

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Archambeau had Lion Paul Little passing the pot.  Lion Bob Allen paid up his 10% ($2.50) for winning last week’s attendance prize. Next week will be an officially declared Vest Day per the TT.  Lion Merle was fined for allowing his speaker to get into the building without being appropriately greeted.  Being absence of any more material, he launched into his local trivia questions.

 

PROGRAM: Lion Merle Gore introduced our speaker, Ms. Debbi Foshee, Director of Sales and Marketing for (the new) Shreveport Convention Center.  She recently moved here from Memphis, Tennessee.  Her parent company is SMG which manages many large facilities throughout the U.S.  The Convention Center is slated to open in January 2006.  Over 100,000 feet of column-free exhibit space will be under the 30-foot roof.  The closest city with more space will be Dallas.  A maximum seating capacity will be for more than 7,000 folks – for a meal kind of function style, over 1,500 people can be accommodated.  Debbi spoke of the building’s infrastructure and other amenities.   For those who like to know what is going on in Shreveport, you missed another informational meeting if you weren’t at today’s meeting.  The website is: www.shreveportcenter.com.

 

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 red ticket winners were: Lions Russ Peterson and Bill Archambeau.

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Bill Alexander failed to pull the Queen for $107.00.

ATTENDANCE: Lion Jerry Paige was not here to claim the attendance prize.
