NOTES/Remarks:

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Paul Little passing the pot.  A relatively short quick session was held with lots of fun.

Program:  Lion Stuart Reeks introduced Shreveport Fire Department Assistant-to-the-Chief Brian Crawford.  Brian gave a detailed run-down on the happenings of SFD.  Very shortly, the new station on North Common Street will open and the current Station #1 will re-locate to the new building.  The current station will hopefully be converted into a museum with state funding assistance. There are currently 21 fire stations with 8 EMS units. He explained why EMS calls are first responded to by pumper trucks – there are more of them and they usually only have one and a half miles to travel, so they beat the EMS units since there are a fewer number of them.  Most all trucks have EMTs at the Paramedic Level. Over 3,000 false alarms were responded to last year. The current fire station was built during the horse-drawn days – that is why the stair case is circular --- so the horses wouldn’t go upstairs. The best news – Shreveport is one of the top “Class 1” rated fire stations in the nation – for both fire and EMS.  We are only one of eight which also has EMS responsibilities. Thanks to Brian for a great presentation.
