Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau got the usual late fines
(Lions Kevin Anderson and Bryan Self) and late meeting start money
(Prez Ball) with Lion Paul Little serving as the pot handler.
Lion Craig Kennedy knew one trivia question – how is the month of
February special for Craig?
The answer: Craig has
been a Lion for 33 years. Lion
Gary Kennedy was welcomed back today and received a single birthday song for
his many birthday absences. Not
much was done other than these things except for a joke each from Lion Bill
Archambeau and Lion Hubert Gleason. A short session Tailtwister session was
held today to allow ample time for the speaker.
Program: Lion Charlie Smith was introduced
by the Prez as the program chairperson. Charlie
has been saying he was going to have a mystery speaker, and up until the time
for him to introduce the speaker, he was sitting at the front table by
himself. Then, in a very coy
fashion, he made an introduction of one of our own members – Lion Gloria
Kennedy. Gloria then
began speaking about a man she has known for several years. He was born in Missouri – one of nine
kids. The family had a farm and
there just wasn’t a whole lot of money in the family. Then, he struck off and served in the
military. He returned to Missouri
and using his GI education benefits, he attained a Bachelor’s Degree. Eventually he ended up in Shreveport
working for someone. Later he had
an opportunity to purchase a company and years down the road, he started another
company. She spoke of the quality
of the man’s personality and business savvy – how we worked very hard to make
build success in his businesses which he would one day turn over to his
kids. This man has also been very
responsive to needs in the community – particularly, law enforcement. His actions led to forming another group
of businesses and together, the group has furnished many protective vests for
Shreveport Police, Caddo Sheriff’s Office and Troop G… One day we all hope that the city will
recognize a special day for a many who has been very special for our community –
they’ll call it Craig Kennedy
Day. Editor’s opinion: If more business owners responded to
needs in the community as Craig has
done – can you imagine what else could be achieved in our area????? Thanks to Charile, Gloria – and of
course – Craig!!!
