The April 10th regular meeting will be held at Northwood High
School.
We will pay for our own lunches as usual, but, this will help us to meet
our 59 NHS Leo Club members.
Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau got the usual late fines for the Prez starting the
meeting late and then he got some members for being late (the TT starts his
list at 12noon whether or not the Prez has started the meeting). Those here – but late – Lions Jerry Paige,
Tom Foster, Oscar Smith, Kevin Nale, Bryan Self, Robert Kennedy and Libby
Gleason… Other fines: For Lion Reeks’ speaker-guest being
at the meeting earlier than Stuart was…A critical remark was made on
Lion Bud Byrd’s directing of cymbal player Lion Kevin Anderson. Many members were fined for not being attired
in their Lion’s vest. The
Tailtwister then covered some Louisiana trivia questions -- all of which kept
pot person Lion Gabby Garbarino on the move.
Program: Lion Stuart Reeks introduced Ms. Kristen Johnson, (LSU-S graduate) Public Relations Director
for the Louisiana Association for the Blind (www.lablind.com). She gave the members a brief history of the
LAB, which was started by local Lions in 1926 to help the blind attain training
and employment. Their productions
at one time or another included brooms and Easter baskets. There is so much they are doing that I can’t
give justice in this newsletter… They do federal government and military contracts
for things such as anti-slip mats to boat covers to --- well, just visit this
site as it is user-friendly www.lablind.com
and you can learn a lot. Kristen can be called at 877.913.6471 for more information.
Lion Jim Peck suggested we might do a lunch meeting at one
of their sites one day for a tour – sounds good!
