PRAYERS:  The Club and all of its members and their families who were not able to be present today. 

 

VISITING:   Lion Alan Yokem had Mr. Ted Dixon.

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  Lion Oscar Smith will have Mr. Gerry Robichaux.  He is with the Senior Olympic Steering Committee.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

¨      Irish Auction – Thursday, March 17th at 6:30 p.m.-- We are in dire need for items for auctioning and door prizes – we also need people – members and friends/family.  It will be in our clubroom at 6:30 p.m. and the caterer will again be Good Eats and the cost is $12.00 per person for eating.

¨      State Convention the weekend of April 29th in Baton Rouge. Pres. Reeks has the information and convention information.  All Lions are encouraged to attend – particularly, the club’s officers.

¨      The Lions Rose Day will be May 6th – the tickets will be available next week.

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Archambeau had Lion Bryan Self passing the pot.  A few latecomers were fined.   Lion Kevin was verbally assaulted for his leading of the Pledge; likewise, Lion Trey Gleason for not providing adequate cues to the club’s band for the First Verse.

 

PROGRAM: Lion Mike Middleton introduced Mr. Lester Kimble and Mr. Travis Lewis, the manager and co-manager of Sam’s Wholesale Club.  Sam’s recently contributed $1,000 to the NSLC.  They spoke about the Wal-Mart Foundation.  They are the largest contributor to communities everywhere; they gave back to the community last year over $174 million – the local Sam’s Club gave over $40,000 last year.  Mr. Sam Walton developed what is today’s success based on improvements given to previous successful companies such as K-Mart, Sears and others. Last year, the lowest price concept grossed over $285 billion for Wal-Mart and Sam’s Clubs. They employ 1.5 million people and are second only to the federal government in their number of employees.  They provide many benefits to their employees. Their profit per employment is much less than Microsoft and General Motors.  By the way, the local Sam’s has over 115,000 members.

           

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 red ticket winners were: Lions Oscar Smith and Bud Byrd.

 

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Bill Archambeau pulled the winning Queen for $127.50.

 

ATTENDANCE: Lion Steve Fulco was not here to claim the attendance prize.
