PRAYERS:  All members and their families. 

 

VISITING:  Introduced by Lion Gloria Lynch was here husband and regular attendee, Mr. Billy Lynch;  Lion Mike Middleton introduced Mr. Tom Pace;  Lions Bud and Nita Byrd introduced their neighbors Lions Joe and Alice Townsend;  Lion Alan Yokem hosted Mr. Mack Anglin

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  On March 13th, Lion Russ Peterson will host Mr. Chris Gray.  He is a casting agent.  On March 20th, Lion Mike Middleton will host Mr. Woody Wilson, Chief Administrative Officer for Caddo Parish.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Ø       Lion Stuart Reeks told us that the Rose Day is May 9th.  The tickets will be available next week.  Please expedite your sales and because we’ll have to turn in our final count about April 7th.

Ø       Lion Gloria Lynch noted:  LCIF has been ranked as the number one non-government organization in the world.  Thirty-four (34) organizations were considered….The Campaign SightFirst II has surpassed the $150 million minimum – to the tune of $157.9 million…  LCIF has distributed the 10 millionth dose of Azithromycin which fights against blinding diseases in poor, rural areas.

 

Tailtwisting:

                Lion Archambeau had Lion Paul Little passing the sacrificial pot.  A few late-comers were fined.  Then he went into trivia questions.  Another great session!!!

 

PROGRAM:  Lion Sheriff Steve Prator introduced retiring Caddo Parish Chief Judge Charles Scott.  The Judge gave a short biography which included his introduction by Mr. Bill Rose which led him to joining the North Shreveport Lions Club many years ago.  Lion Bill Alexander was in attendance today and he is Charles’ Sunday School teacher.  Charles has served nearly twenty-eight (28) years as a District Judge.  He is currently a member of the South Shreveport Lions Club… Charles told about the judicial system and his responsibilities as a judge.  He has presided over thousands of prosecutions and civil suits through his 28 years.  Passion is very evident when the Judge speaks about the rights of law abiding citizens and protecting them.  The pride of being a public servant gives him even greater passion to continue to serve.  The Judge is running for Caddo Parish District Attorney. 

 

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 ticket winners were: Lions Russ Peterson and Merle Gore.

 

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Hubert Gleason failed to pull the winning Queen for $324.

 

ATTENDANCE: Lion Mike Middleton was here to claim the attendance prize.

 

MAJOR PROJECTS: Louisiana Lions Childrens’ Camp, LSU Lions’ Eye Foundation, Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools
