PRAYERS: Lion Bryan Self lost his mother last Friday. Lions Bob Allen and Russ Peterson are still convalescing at Willis-Knighton Pierremont, 8^th floor.

VISITING: Lion Larry LaBorde with wife, Puddy; Lion Patricia Schwartz with her daughter, Kristie Buckner; and Lion Bud Byrd had his wife, Lion Nita Byrd – she is currently the District 8-L Secretary and a member of Bossier Central Club.

NOTES/Remarks:

Lions Scott Harkey and Patricia Schwartz are heading up the Irish Auction for 2004. It will be next Friday, March 19^th at Sword Sports on North Market. We need lots of people to participate and need lots of items to be auctioned. Please acquire items with a value of at least $50 each. Smaller items can be used as door prizes. LION PATRICIA WILL BE CALLING TO SEE WHO WILL ATTEND.
Lion Robert Schwartz needs help for a Cub Sight Screening this Wednesday, March 17^th at 9:00 a.m. at Southfield School.
8-L Mid-Winter Conference was held last weekend – Lions Jimmie Giles, Craig and Gloria Kennedy, Hubert and Libby Gleason, Stuart Reeks, Mike Middleton, Bud Byrd and Ed Ball represented NSLC.

Lion Stuart Reeks will be the Rose Day chairperson. The date will be May 7^th – please calendar it sell roses and come help to deliver. TICKETS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR LION STUART.

A reception is being planned for March 21^st at the State Exhibit Museum. The guest will be the granddaughter of Helen Keller. Please plan to attend and show our appreciation for her traveling to Shreveport. More details available later.
Lion Gloria noted that the ones who attended last week’s tour of the Eye Clinic in New Orleans received VIP treatment and it was well worth the time. Upcoming fundraiser – NASCAR TRIP TO THE BRICKYARD -- $10.00 EACH CHANCE.

Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Mike Middleton carrying the pot. Lion Craig Kenney helped the TT’s fund by donating some Lions shirts – all proceeds – about $80 went to the TT fund. Several members were fined “who would’ve been late”. The short session concluded with Lions Hubert Gleason, Robert Schwartz and Jimmie Giles telling some jokes. Thanks to all who helped Lion TT Bill have such a prosperous day!!!

Program: Lion Larry LaBorde introduced himself since chair Lion Scott Harkey could not make it today. Lion Larry gave a detailed and interesting biography on multi-billionaire H.L. Hunt. It seems that Mr. Hunt had several families he supported – the existence of each family unbeknownst to the other. Larry continued with bios and investments on the offspring of Mr. Hunt. He gave details on the surviving (Bonker and Herbert) Hunts’ dealings in silver – and their eventual demise in the silver investments. For the whole story, contact Lion Larry. (H.L. died at age 85).
