ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Ø Lion Gloria Lynch updated us on the Eye Foundation – the Administrative area will return to the building in March 2008; the clinic will return to its site about July 2009… The Eye Foundation is receiving grant money to replace and update eye care equipment. Also, the Lion’s Cub Program is being challenged to screen up to 20,000 children this year – 13,000 have been done to-date. Gloria had a lot more to say about the Foundation and I couldn’t keep up with her. Her excitement and enthusiasm are to be marveled – thanks Gloria for all the updates.
Ø Yesterday’s Board Meeting:
o The Rose Day will be May 9th, 2008. Lion Stu Reeks will again head it up…. Please restrict your sales to the immediate Shreveport – Bossier City area and the 71107 zip code. If you sell any above the 71107 zip code, ask the customer to pick them up at Lion Bryan’s Forum. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE – WRITE DOWN THE DATE TO DO THE DELIVERIES – PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE!!!
o More sprucing up will happen in the clubroom – Lion Trey heading it up.
Tailtwisting:
Lion Archambeau had Lion
Oscar Smith passing the ransom pot.
A few fined for no-shows from yesterday’s Board Meeting were fined; so
were a few late comers. Then he
went into trivia questions. Always
a great time!!!
PROGRAM: Lion Trey
Gleason introduced Mr. Scott
Hughes. Scott is the Executive Director of the
Alliance for Education here in Caddo Parish. He is also a political analyst and
commentator – particularly, KTBS-TV.
He gave a synopsis of his biography that was expansive, yet, concise and
very interesting!!! Scott signed on
with KTBS with the understanding that is will be an analyst – and he gave an
explanation as to their agreement for him to do the job. He very much ensures that his analysis
is done with the utmost consideration of non-biased opinions. Scott gave a review of the Shreveport
Mayoral race. Louisiana is changing
in its voting. In the last 80+
years, there have only been 5 Congressmen serving our area – one of them for
only two years – Buddy Leach.
Others included Overton Brooks, Joe Waggoner, Jim McCrery and Buddy
Roemer. He gave us concise
information on the ongoing presidential races.
