ANNOUNCEMENTS:

¨      Lion Patricia Schwartz informed the club that the Irish auction was as success.  Besides the good fellowship and food had by all we made approximately $1,900, when you include the grill that was re-auctioned and purchased by Lion Merle Gore.  Thanks Patricia.

¨      Rose Day is coming up May 6, 2005.  With our new rose source we will need to get them a fairly accurate count 4 weeks prior.  Therefore, sell sell sell.

¨      Another easy fundraiser courtesy of Past President Gloria Kennedy is selling the "Book".  This is a book of dining coupons which can be sold for $20 and the club will get $10 of that.  See Lion President Reeks to get your books.

¨      State Convention the weekend of April 29th in Baton Rouge. Pres. Reeks has the information and convention applications.  All Lions are encouraged to attend – particularly, the club’s officers.

Tailtwisting:  A blast from the past today as Past Tailtwister and PDG Hubert Gleason led the session.  PDG Gleason hassled numerous club members including Lion Russ Peterson for his low riding pants.  He then brought back some memories with some "remember when" one-liners.

PROGRAM: PDG Jimmie Giles introduced District Governor Dr. Leland Scoggins.  The Governor discussed the current state of Lionism.  One thing he has become particularly proud of is the Leader Dog School.  He has visited the school and was very impressed.  He also stated the need for the District to find a Vice District Governor for the next Lions year.  The Governor also alluded to a need for a dues increase for the District as the cost of gasoline, etc. continues to rise.  On a positive note he mentioned that Lions International has contributed $5,000,000 to the Tsunami relief effort.  To wrap up his presentation he asked that we need all Lions to attend the District 8-L awards banquet on June 11, 2005.  The cost will be $20 a person.  More details will be forthcoming.

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 red ticket winners were: Lion VP Patricia Schwartz and somebody else (your President had Yellow Rag duty and failed to write the name down).

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Larry Laborde failed to pull the Queen.

ATTENDANCE: Lion Brett Mattison was not here to claim the attendance prize.
