NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  Not known at this time…

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Ø      Lion Gloria Lynch announced the St. Pius Lion Cub eye screening resulted in 4 referrals out of the 58 who were screened. Merle is working on his church.

Tailtwisting:

Lion Archambeau had guest Chase Gore passing the offertory pot.  A few late comers were fined.  The finale was trivia questions.  Lots of fun!!

PROGRAM:  Lion Trey Gleason introduced Dr. Todd Thoma, Caddo Parish Coroner.   He has only been our Coroner for three days – and he is already implementing the points on which he ran for the office.  Local autopsies are now being done at LSUHSC instead of Little Rock – a big savings in transportation and autopsy costs.  Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) nurses are now being used for sexual assault investigations.  Todd now has new offices provided by the Parish Commission next to the Parish’s Health Unit on Creswell.  The planned North Louisiana Forensics Center can now go forward with the interests of all user parties’ involvement.  The center will be located on land being donated by LSU on Linwood at Tulane.  Since taking office, Todd has not found many problems in the Office and he has retained all the staff AND the team work/involvement is improving.  Delivery of Death Certificates will now be much more efficient and timely.  Todd has met with the Louisiana Organ Procurement Administration (LOPA) and more efforts are underway to do a better job of organ and tissue harvesting. This was another excellent program.
