PRAYERS:  Remember Lion Hubert Gleason and family.  Hubert’s sister, Ms. Clara Watson, passed away.  The funeral is Friday, April 1st  Osborne Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m.  Lion Jimmie Giles reported that Lion Bob Allen had a bad fall yesterday and got scraped up pretty bad.

 

VISITING:   None

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  Lion Oscar Smith will have Mr. Gerry Robichaux.  He is with the Senior Olympic Steering Committee.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

¨      Irish Auction – Thanks to all who participated and our Chairperson Lion Patricia Schwartz.  We netted $1,900.  (If you had promised to be at the Auction and you were not, please pay $12.00 for each no-show to Lion Patricia.)

¨      State Convention the weekend of April 29th in Baton Rouge. Pres. Reeks has the information.  All Lions are encouraged to attend – particularly, the club’s officers.

¨      The Lions Rose Day will be May 6th – the tickets will be available next week.

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Archambeau had Lion Jimmie Giles passing the pot.  Fines were assessed to those not wearing vests and who have not yet sold a single dozen of roses.  Then, a few jokes were told and the usual Shreveport trivia questions.

 

PROGRAM: Lion Oscar Smith introduced Ms. Michelle Davison, the Assistant Director of the American Red Cross in Shreveport.  The ARC helps military families in time of need – and this is how they started with Clara Barton in the Civil War.  ARC remains as the chief communicator for military for their receiving both good and bad news.  However, in addition to teaching CPR, they today are best known for helping in disasters.  Everyone has the responsibility of being prepared for disasters.  This includes from in-home emergencies such as fires (for humans and pets), or whatever can happen in your neighborhood and community.  5 important steps for being prepared: (1) Make a plan [talk it over and practice it]; (2) Build a kit [emergency supplies and food] (3) Get trained [CPR and First Aid]; (4) Volunteer [The Red Cross and similar help organizations thrive on volunteerism; (5) Give blood.  Learn more at www.givelife.org .

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Bud Byrd failed to pull the winning Queen.

 

ATTENDANCE: Lion Jenny Moore was not here to claim the attendance prize.
