NOTES/Remarks:

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau went into action with Lion Gabby doing the collecting.  Lions Larry LaBorde, Scott Harkey, Oscar Smith, Bryan Self, Kevin Anderson and Lisa Nash were all fined for arriving late.  The Prez  (as usual) was fined for the usual late meeting start.  Then many trivia questions were quick-fired at the members in attendance and several fines were collected.  It was a short but fun session.

Program:  Lion Patricia Schwartz introduced Mr. Eric Gnann.   He is the District Director of the Boy Scouts of America’s NORWELA council. NORWELA is comprised of nine parishes and over 9,000 boys are involved.  In the last year, the Shreveport area has gained another 160 members which brings the Shreveport area to approximately 1,600 members.  Projects include: * The collection of over 14,000 pounds of food for the Northwest La Food Bank; * Goodwill Used clothes…  Though the Cub and Boy Scouts programs is only for males, there exists a co-ed group called Venturing which is open for males and females… The NORWELA still receives some funding from the local United Way.   The BSA still teaches and endears priority values -- God, family, country and community.  The Garland Scout Ranch, located in DeSoto Parish, is celebrating its 30th year and over 500 boys will attend camp this year… Eric noted special projects which are sponsored by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Shreveport Police Department.  Call for action:  Needed help includes: volunteering in many areas and chartering a scout unit.  Website: www.norwela.org .  Their local phone number is 318.869.2774….. Thanks for a great informative program.
