Opening:  Presiding: President Lion Ed Ball; Prayer: Lion Jim Peck; Pledge: Lion Charlie Smith with assistance from Lion Jimmie Giles, Leading the song was Lion Gloria Kennedy and Lion Jimmie Giles sounding the cymbals -- Lion Robbie Raiford on the piano.

 

PRAYERS:  Lion Russ Peterson still recuperating.

 

NEXT WEEK:  A speaker from the Methodist Childrens’ Home.

 

VISITING:  Lion Paul Little had his lovely wife, Martha; 20 members were in attendance.

 

NOTES/Remarks:

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Mike Middleton passing the plate.  Late: Lions Larry LaBorde, Pete Copes and Scott Harkey; Lion Bryan Self received several fines ‘just because’… then, onto television trivia.

 

Program:  Lion Robbie Raiford introduced 8-L Vice-District Governor Dr. Leland Scoggins.  Dr. Scoggins is the Executive Director of Red River Development Council.  After being given a standing ovation, Lion Scoggins gave appreciation to our club for our outstanding Tailtwister and also noted the fact that North Shreveport has seven Past-District Governors.  He has known Lion Robbie for a long, long time.  Lion Scoggins related his appreciation for Lionism as a whole.  As the next 8-L District Governor, he will continue in supporting membership increase and for the clubs to get more involved in not only fundraisers for the Eye Foundation and Camp – but, for the clubs to continue to have fundraisers for their local community.  Dates for upcoming functions: May 29,30 – Eye Foundation Meeting in Natchitoches;  October will be the 8-L conference in Bossier City.   Lion Scoggins’ email is lscoggins@cp-tel.net

 

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Bud Byrd and Pete Copes.

 

BLUE TICKET: Lion Craig Kennedy failed to pull the Queen from the almost new deck.

 

Attendance Prize: Lion Russ Peterson was not present to collect the new pot.

 

MAJOR PROJECTS: Louisiana Lions Childrens’ Camp, LSU Lions’ Eye Foundation, Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools

Irish Auction – March 19, 2004; Rose Sale –May 7, 2004
