ANNOUNCEMENTS:

¨      Rose Day:  Lion President and Rose Day Chair Reeks ask that everyone get their rose money in as soon as possible so we can close the project out before the end of the Lion year.  If the money comes in as Lion Stu predicts we should make about $4,300 on this years rose day sale.  That would be about a $300 increase over prior year.

¨      Another easy fundraiser courtesy of Past President Gloria Kennedy is selling the "Book".  This is a book of dining coupons which can be sold for $20 and the club will get $10 of that.  See Lion President Reeks to get your books.

¨      The North Shreveport Lions Installation Banquet will be held at 6:30 pm on June 23, 2005.  The location has not been finalized at this time.  We should be able to annouce the location at the next meeting.

¨      The District 8-L banquet will be held on Saturday, June 11, at the Ramada Inn in Natchitoches.  The Ramada in is located on the bypass.

¨      Attendance for our weekly meetings has been falling off recently.  Please make every effort to attend and support your Lions Club.

Tailtwisting:  Lion Tailtwister Bill Archambeau fined the late comers and then made the mistake of letting a couple of Lions tell a couple of jokes.  The jokes made the upcoming trivia look awfully good.

PROGRAM: VP Patricia Schwartz introduced Lloyd Lenard and his wife Skye Lenard.  Mr. Lenerd discussed some of the things he had done in his life which led into discussing his new book.  The book is titled Papa Left Us But Mama Pulled Us Through.  The book discusses his life in rural Louisiana duirng the twenties and thirties when Mr. Lenard was growing up.  His father had left them and he tells the story of the strenght and courage of his Mother to raise the children on her own through very tough times.  Skye Lenard read some excerpts from the book which were very entertaining and enlightening.  Mr. Lenard and his wife also expressed their appreciation for the Lions and what we do.  He had the opportunity to visit the Eye Foundation as a patient and was very impressed with the people and the work they do there.

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 red ticket winners were: Lions Steve Davitt and Bill Archambeau.
