NOTES/Remarks:
Program: Lion Stuart Reeks introduced Mrs.
Lisa Hayes, with Shreveport Convention
and Tourism. She is on the Convention Marketing Special Forces Team. The new Convention center is due to open in
July 2006. It will be a 350,000 square
foot facility with 100,000 square feet of meeting area. It will also house a ballroom, breakfast
area and a parking area. Naturally the
Convention and Tourism board are anxious to have the adjoining hotel built in
order to attract conventions to Shreveport.
Overflow from the 315 room hotel will be directed to other local hotels
and motels. The emphasis at first will
be on getting local and regional groups to the area and then seeking national
conventions and meetings. Mrs. Hayes
was a very informative speaker.
