NOTES/Remarks:

Lion Ed Ball told the club we would have a workday at OUR YMCA cabin located at Camp Forbing on Saturday May 29^th. Call Lion Ed for details. President Ed Ball also announced the Installation Banquet will be held June 24^th.at Savoies on W. 70^th. at 6:30 PM. Cost will be $18.00 per person. Lion Gloria Kennedy announced the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation will hold its quarterly meeting in Natchitoches, May 29^th and 30^th. Lion Bud Byrd, President thanked Lion Harold Wright for his generous donation of $300.oo to the La Lions Children’s Camp, of which Lion Bud is President. He also passed out tickets for the Boat Raffle which benefits both the Camp & Eye Foundation.

Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Bryan Self passing the pot. Late: Lions Oscar Smith, Alan Yokem and Cindy Fortsom. Without being fined, Lion Russell Peterson told his tale of riding his motorcycle on a charity run for the Church when the only other vehicle on the street, an automobile driven by a woman, hit him from the rear. He spent a long time in the hospital and at home recuperating. He offered this advice: Don’t ride a motorcycle. He also took the Lions of North Shreveport to task for not calling, writing or visiting him while he was confined. The TT then asked questions from the Millionaire Manual to the amusement and enjoyment of those present.

Program: Lion Stuart Reeks introduced Mrs. Lisa Hayes, with Shreveport Convention and Tourism. She is on the Convention Marketing Special Forces Team. The new Convention center is due to open in July 2006. It will be a 350,000 square foot facility with 100,000 square feet of meeting area. It will also house a ballroom, breakfast area and a parking area. Naturally the Convention and Tourism board are anxious to have the adjoining hotel built in order to attract conventions to Shreveport. Overflow from the 315 room hotel will be directed to other local hotels and motels. The emphasis at first will be on getting local and regional groups to the area and then seeking national conventions and meetings. Mrs. Hayes was a very informative speaker.

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Gloria Kennedy and Craig Kennedy.

BLUE TICKET: Guest Charlie Clark was unable to pull the Queen from the deck of cards.

Attendance Prize: Lion Steve Prator was not present to collect the pot.
