NOTES/Remarks:

• Lion 1^st Vice-President Stuart Reeks has the next year’s list for speakers. Please sign-up to avoid being placed in the “assigned” lotto.
• 1,316 boat raffle tickets were sold in front of Lowe’s last weekend. Four clubs participated according to Lion Gloria Kennedy’s report.

Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau was given a few minutes to assess fines and Lion Gabby Garbarino was the muscle man. A couple of trumped-up charges started the session (late start, pins etc.) Lion Robert Schwartz was fined for having problems handling the camera at tonight’s meeting. Then the TT got into some trivia questions, which yielded a fun and learning session.

Program: There was no noontime meeting today so we could have our nighttime end-of-the-year and installation banquet.

• Lion Scott Harkey made a presentation tonight that will eventually be done directly to Linda Lipscomb at a regular meeting in memory of Lion Max Lipscomb.
• Lion Patricia Schwartz made presentations to the following:
• Mr. Keven Belcher a Northwood High School graduate that will be attending Bossier Parish Community College. His short-term goal is to train in the area of phlebotomy – later he desires to pursue medicine to become a surgeon… Our best wishes to Keven. Keven’s mom, Amanda was attending tonight with him.
• Ms. Barbara Prince from Green Oaks High School was recognized as Teacher of the Year.
• President Ball recognized (all not necessarily present tonight) may for assisting in the many duties of the club for the year 2002-2003: Lions Tom Foster, Stuart Reeks, Patricia Schwartz, Jim Peck, Gloria Kennedy, Mike Middleton, Bill Archambeau, Gabby Garbarino, Ed Stevenson, Steve Davitt, Bryan Self, Robbie Raiford, Buddy Morehead, Jennie Moore, Libby Gleason, Alan Yokem, Bill Spickerman, Oscar Smith, Hubert Gleason, Scott Harkey, Lisa Nash-Scholes and Robert Schwartz.
• Two additional awards were given: Lion Stuart Reeks was recognized with the President’s Appreciation Award. Then, Lion Ed Stevenson was awarded as Lion of the Year for serving as Lion Tamer.
• Lion Bud Byrd was then called up to present the prestigious Melvin Jones Award. Lion Jones was the founder of Lions Club International in the early 1900’s. The surprise award this year went to Lions Lisa Nash-Scholes and Mike Middleton for their devotion to Lionism. Congratulations to Lions Lisa and Mike.
• We then had the installation of officers which was conducted by PDG Lion Hubert Gleason.
• President Lion Ball then revealed a past-president plaque which will be presented to Linda Lipscomb at a later date, again in memory of Lion Max.
• The Prez’s incoming remarks reminded the club of this NSLC’s year’s losses: Lions Max Lipscomb, Joe Rosett, Charlyne Langton and Walter Pipes. He challenged the club to improve on attendance of meetings and membership numbers… This year, the club will actually enjoy benefits available as being an actual IRS 501(c)(3) for tax purposes. Remember that the first meetings of Lionism in the early 1900s involved Lion Melvin Jones, our founder, meeting with business people. – let’s look into our business associates as possible new members…The Prez is looking to have a social coordinator to improve on our camaraderie. President Ball re-emphasized the importance of our club’s continuing support of the Eye Foundation and Camp.
• After the drawings, Lion Chaplain Jim Peck gave a benediction to send us home.

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: E.D. Harkey and Lion Rubye Davitt.

BLUE TICKET: Lion Bud Byrd who did not pick the Queen of Hearts – the pot is getting bigger! The pot starts next week at just over $84.

Attendance Prize: Lion Ray Cook would have won the attendance prize.

MAJOR PROJECTS: Louisiana Lions Childrens’ Camp, LSU Lions’ Eye Foundation, Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools
