PRAYERS:  The Club and all of its members who were not present.

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:    Surprise.   

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

           

¨      Rose Day:  PDG Gleason turned in the last $15 dollars for the Rose Day sale.  This brings the net earned on the project to $4,165.

¨      Please note that dues will be going up by $1 to make it an even $120 instead of $119 per year.  Also, beginning July 1, 2005 the meal price will be going back up to $7 from the current $6. 

¨      Thanks to everyone who attended and help make the 53rd North Shreveport Lions Installation Banquet a success.

¨      Lion President Reeks handed out Lions coffee mugs to the officers present as he forgot at the to do so at the banquet.

¨      Attendance was down at the meeting  today.  Please come and support your Lions Club.

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion Tailtwister Bill Archambeau fined Lion (very soon to be Past President) Reeks for failing to sign the award certificates that were presented at the installation banquet.  He also fined Lion Trey Gleason for trying to compete with PP Robert Schwartz for having the loudest tie.  He fined a few more Lions  for various offenses before launching into the Shreveport Bossier trivia.

 

PROGRAM: VP Oscar Smith introduced Jim Taliaferro with the Shreveport Police Department.  He is the coordinator of the local Crimestoppers program.  He informed the group that Crimestoppers is a non-profit organization funding by contributions from the public and is operated primarily by unpaid volunteers.  Crimestoppers began in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the late 1970's and has spread across the United States and Europe as well as other places around the world.  He indicated that they go to great lengths to ensure the anonymity of the persons who give tips to the hotline.  He answered a multitude of questions from the members present.  Good program.

  

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 red ticket winners were: Lions Harold Wright and Jerry Paige.

 

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Pete Copes failed to pull the Queen.

 

ATTENDANCE:  Lion Gary Kennedy was not here to claim the attendance prize.
