BOARD MEETING NEXT WEDNESDAY, JULY 9TH, 2003, AT 12:00 NOON

 

Opening: Presiding: President Lion Ed Ball; Prayer: Lion Bob Allen; Pledge: Lion Bud Byrd, Leading the song was Lion Gabby Garbarino with PDG2 Lion Paul Little playing the cymbals and Lion Robbie Raiford tinkling the simulated ivory.

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM: Lion Bryan Self will present another really great speaker  -- Mr. Al Kessler.  Mr. Kessler is retired from the phone company and remains active on current issues, which will benefit the strength of the local economics, and particularly on the I-49 project.  This will be another great speakerplease attend the meeting and support our club.

WE NEED MEMBER PARTICIPATION IN OUR WEEKLY MEETINGS!!!

 

Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau got hard-to-work on his duties and Lion Gabby Garbarino was ferrying the pot around the room.  Lion Prez Ball started the new Lion’s year on time and did not get fined.   The following were sung to for their birthdays falling in the month of July:  Lions Craig Kennedy, Hubert Gleason, Ed Stevenson and Patricia Schwartz.  Other good information on today’s attendance included the following – LION’S CLUB Anniversaries:  Lions Bud Byrd, Gabby Garbarino, and Oscar Smith; WEDDING Anniversaries: Lions Bob Allen (Dorothy) and Paul Little (Martha).

 

Program: Lion Patricia Schwartz snuck in an editorial which further supported the issue raised by Lion Little – WHERE ARE OUR MEMBERS?  She presented Dr. Dennis Wissing, Professor and Head of LSUHSC’s Department of Clinical Sciences.  Folks, you missed a lot of great information about – CAFFEINE --presented via PowerPoint and by a very knowledgeable person.  Studies have shown:

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Bryan Self and Oscar Smith.  A third ticket was drawn which resulted in Lion Patricia Schwartz winning a carpenter’s level.

 

BLUE TICKET: Lion Bob Allen did not pick the Queen of Hearts – the pot is getting bigger!

 

Attendance Prize: Lion 3rd VP OSCAR SMITH won the attendance prize of  $35.00.
