- Lion
Stuart reminds all who had committed to attending the installation
banquet and did not that they need to pay for their meal.
A lady in West Shreveport is donated to the club a Christmas Spoon
which was part of a fundraiser in 1974 Lion Jimmie
Giles discussed its origin from past Lion Colonel Murdock. Lion Ed Stevenson
and his bride will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary
and 80th birthdays July 17th from 2-4pm at the Blanchard
Town Hall – all are invited. Three
club Charter nights are coming up – Greenwood July 20th at 7pm
at Angolina’s; Grand Cane July 15th at 6pm at the Back Alley
Community Theatre; and Shreveport Central on August 2nd at 7pm
place TBA.The NSLC Board Meeting will be held July 14th…
- Past
President Ed Ball gave recognition/awards to Lion Libby Gleason for being the club Social Chairperson for
last year.
- We have received acknowledgement from the Leader
Dog School for our continued contribution to their organization.
- July 17 at 1:00 p.m.: District Governor’s Cabinet Meeting will be held at
the First Baptist Church, 508 2nd Street, Natchitoches.
- Sell raffle tickets for the Corvette and boat.
Tailtwisting: Lion Archambeau kept us entertained
with Lion Paul Little “collecting.”
He first fined Lion Libby Gleason for
missing the Installation Banquet. A few regular late comers were fined for
arriving late. The questions were changed to various sports, movie and musical
questions. Wow what a change.

Robert Schwartz introduced Ms.
Lola Kendrick, of the Louisiana Workforce Commission. She has over 30 years in Public Schools. She discussed the various projects of the Louisiana
Workforce Commission. Basically, skill
requirements of jobs have changed, we need to up skill our workforce.
The workforce “gap” between where jobs are and where our graduates
are, is staggering. She has lots of good statistics on education
and business. To turn the numbers around they have several programs designed
to get people licensed or certified to do various jobs. Suggests getting more people to go into business for themselves
and upgrade the workforce at the same time.
Doing a good job making more and better trained employees for employers.
The best part, this is all paid for from the savings on welfare progams
and not our tax dollars?
Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Bill Archambeau and Lion
Jerry Paige.
BLUE TICKET: Lion Pete Copes failed to
pull the Queen.
Attendance Prize: Lion Bryan Self was present to collect the
pot.

Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood
High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools
