The Yellow
Rag
|
We meet every
Thursday at the D&W Business Center,
1434 Hawn Avenue. |
Yellow
Rag Editors
Gloria Kennedy, Mike Middleton,
Patricia Schwartz |
Opening: Lion
Charlie Smith gave the invocation thanking GOD for our meal and asking for direction. Lion
Steve Davitt led the pledge in a superb manner. Lion Jerry Paige led
the FIRST VERSE accompanied by Lion
Robbie Raiford on the piano and Lion
Paul Little on the cymbals.
Visitors: Guest of Lion Patricia Schwartz was Ms.
Barbara Zerrahn and a guest of the club is the 8L Vice-District Governor Bonnie Pharr (South Shreveport Club
member). Ms. Rubye Davitt was again accompanying husband Lion Steve Davitt.
Remarks: On his first meeting date, President Max Lipscomb apologized to Lion Libby Gleason for accidentally
omitting her as a 1-year board member at the installation banquet. She accepted the apology and the
position… President then reviewed
yesterday’s board meeting. There was a
lot of discussion at the meeting regarding budget for the coming year. The administration budget was approved and
the project budget was returned to the Finance Committee for additional
considerations…. Lion Robert Schwartz gave an update on the Cub Sight program for
which he served as Regional Chairman.
It seems the Bossier Noon Club may have edged us out a little – but the
final numbers aren’t out – regardless the kids win! The club applauded Lions Robert Schwartz and Gloria
Kennedy for their hard work… Lion Gloria Kennedy made a plea for
help in selling raffle tickets for the Bass Tournament Boat. This will be at Lowe’s on Mansfield Road on
Saturday, July 13, 2002 and Sunday July 14, 2002 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and
12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m., respectively.
TAILTWISTING: Lion Bill Archambeau did
his usual good job at fining folks for tardiness, general behavior and lack of
trivia answers – but most did a good job.
Thanks Lion Bill for your
greatness.
Program: Lion
Robert Schwartz presented speakers from Chimp Haven – Ms. Susan Miller and Ms.
Sharon Roy. They gave the history behind the project,
which is to provide a humane, cost-effective environment for the lifetime care
of chimpanzees, which have been used, for medical experimentation. The speakers asked for help by giving money
or donation time. You can learn more
at www.chimphaven.org.
Ticket Drawings: $5.00 red
ticket winners were: Lions Bryan Self and
Jerry Paige. Blue ticket drawing for the Queen was
visitor Ms. Barbara Zerrahn – maybe
next time.
Attendance Prize: It would have been Lion Tom Adgate.
This is the first
