PRAYERS:  All members present and absent and their families. 

 

VISITING:   Past District Governor Bonnie Pharr

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  PDG Hubert Gleason will introduce former Shreveport City Councilman John David Stewart.  His subject will be Shreveport – The City we Live in – an inside look from the outside. 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Archambeau had Lion Paul Little passing the pot.  Lion Libby was fined for calling a baton a stick – neither was ever found. Lions Jim Peck and Kevin Anderson were assessed late fees.  Then we had the Shreveport-Bossier trivia questions – really – historical trivia… Thanks Lion Bill for a fun time.

 

PROGRAM: President Schwartz suspended a regular meeting format.  She had Ms. Lola Kendrick help in discussing this year’s goals with the members in attendance.  Subjects included: (1) Revitalize Cub Sight; (2) Review community projects; (3) Look at new ideas; (4) Evaluate rejuvenating the distribution of The Yellow Rag; (5) Maintain at least a 50% meeting attendance; (6) Plan more social functions;; (7) Grow our membership by 5 members; (8) Develop a club brochure; (9) Plan at least one night meeting; (10) At the district level, promote more clubs to donate to the Eye Foundation.  This was a very needed – a healthy – review of what we can do to make our club better. 

           

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 red ticket winners were: Lions Jimmie Giles and Merle Gore.

 

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Paul Little failed to pull the winning Queen.

 

ATTENDANCE: Lion Trey Moore was not here to claim the attendance prize.


 


MAJOR PROJECTS: Louisiana Lions Childrens’ Camp, LSU Lions’ Eye Foundation, Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools

 

 FUNDRAISERS:  Chicken Charbroil – October 6th (cook) 7th (serve);

 Candy & Nuts – November / December; Irish Auction – March; Rose Sale –May

 

 

 

 

 

 

GOALS FOR NORTH SHREVEPORT LIONS CLUB

 

2005-2006

Patricia Schwartz, President

 

  1. Revitalize Cub Sight—goal of at least two screenings per month

 

  1. Look at current community projects; what might we do different/better

 

  1. Try at least one new idea (project, fund-raiser, etc.)

 

  1. Evaluate the effectiveness of the current process of distributing the Yellow Rag

 

  1. Maintain at least a 50 percent attendance rate at all club meetings

 

  1. Plan more social functions

 

  1. Grow our membership by 20 percent

 

  1. Develop a Club Brochure

 

  1. Plan at least one night meeting

 

  1. At the district level—NSLC to organize a North Louisiana drive to get more clubs to donate to the Eye Foundation by using individuals to have been served by the Eye Foundation to speak at club meetings of those not currently donating
