Opening:  Presiding: President Lion Stuart Reeks; Prayer: Lion Jim Peck; Pledge: Lion Jerry Paige; Song: Lion Ed Ball, Lion Robbie Raiford on the piano and Lion Jimmie Giles sounding the cymbals. 

 

PRAYERS:  The Club and all of its members who were not present.  Lion Charlie Smith is at home but must stay near the home for another month (doctor’s orders).

 

NEXT WEEK:  Lion Oscar Smith will present a surprise speaker.  8/26th: Ms. Roxanne Johnson, Executive Director of the YWCA.

 

VISITING:  PDG Paul Little had his lovely wife, “Red” – Martha.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

¨      Alexandria’s Clarion Hotel is the site for the Eye Foundation’s next Board Meeting.  It will be at 2:00 p.m. on August 21st and NSLC Lion Gloria Kennedy will be duly installed as the Board President.  Congrats to Gloria!!!

¨      Lion Patricia Schwartz dropped by the club for a minute as she was whisking away to DeRidder for the birth of her grandchild.

¨      The BIG BASS RODEO will be the last Saturday in September.

¨      Lion Scott Harkey presented a two-member key to Lion Gloria Kennedy for new members who have been members is good standing.

 

INDUCTION:  Lion David Smith was inducted by PDG Jimmie Giles.  Lion Jerry Paige is his sponsor.  Welcome Lion David Smith.

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Archambeau had PDG Paul Little holding the pot.  Lion Libby Gleason was assessed $1.00 for winning last week’s attendance prize.  Lion Jerry Paige knew that August is the anniversary month for him and Beverly.  Lion Stuart Reeks knew that August is the birthday for his wife, Susan.  The club sang Happy Birthday to Ms. Martha Little.

 

PROGRAM: Lion Bryan Self introduced Mr. Darrell ReBouche, Managing Editor for KTAL-TV (Channel 6).  Darrell and Claire have been married for over 17 years and they have two children.  Darrell gave an update to the progression of improvement of services at KTAL.  New ownership arrived about 3 and half years ago.  They noticed lots of needs for improvements from the transmitter to the delivery of the services and the need for better employee work areas.  The difference is noticeable and Darrell and the KTAL team are asking the community to give them a chance – please watch KTAL. Try them for a week and see how they are doing.  By the way Lion Gore was the basketball coach for KTAL’s Anchor Lane Stone – it is a small world. 

 

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions David Smith and Libby Gleason.  

 

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Ed Stevenson failed to pull the Queen for the $152.50 pot.

 

ATTENDANCE: Lion Steven Fulco would have won the attendance prize.
