NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  On August 21st, Lion Libby Gleason will present Mr. Mike Pittman.

Visitors: Ms. Daisy Anderson was visiting with Lion Gene Bacon.  Ms. Elena Corley, in-charge of the Regions Bank on North Market, was visiting with Lion Hubert Gleason.

NOTES/Remarks:

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Paul Little serving as the pot-man in the absence of Lion Gabby Garbarino.  Lion Larry LaBorde received his annual birthday song. Lions Scott Harkey, Oscar Smith, Larry LaBorde and Robert Schwartz were late.  Then the TT went off on his Who Wants To Be a Millionaire questions.  He got lots of fines and lots of discussions and laughs.

Andy Shehee

PROGRAM:  Lion Hubert Gleason introduced Mr. Andy Shehee.  Andy is a professional-hobbyist chicken rancher.  He gave us lots of information on his hobby.  I (your editor), learned a lot today about the different varieties of chickens and their characters.  Some valuable info:  Since WWII, we have moved to growing chickens as rapidly as possible using steroids and advanced watering and lighting techniques – of course, whatever the chicks eat, we also eat and Andy suggests that may be why Americans have many health problems.  He noted a friend in Arkansas who can raise an 8 pound chicken (27,000 of them) in 8 weeks for McDonalds  -- Andy grows his a little slower at about 7 to 8 months to grow to 8 pounds. Andy has about 110 chickens – oh yeah, some broilers can weigh in excess of 12 pounds.  Andy sells some of his eggs at the Donut Shop next to Leone’s Turkey on Kings Highway near KTBS Television.

Andy gave away 5-dozens of prize winning eggs to the following lucky winners: Lions Ed Stevenson, Bob Allen, Bud Byrd, Charlie Smith and guest, Elena Corley.  P.S.  Lion Gloria invited Andy but asked PDG Gleason to introduce him since she couldn’t be at the meeting.

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Paul Little and Ed Stevenson.

BLUE TICKET:  NOPE, Lion Bud Byrd didn’t get it -- the pot is over $140!

Attendance Prize: Lion Steve Prator was not in attendance so the pot is growing.
