Opening:  Presiding: President Lion Stuart Reeks; Prayer: Lion Jim Giles; Pledge: Lion Robert Schwartz; Song: Lion Paul Little, Lion Robbie Raiford on the piano and Lion Jimmie Giles sounding the cymbals. 

 

PRAYERS:  The Club and all of its members who were not present. Lion Hubert Gleason requested we remember Lion Harold Wright as his wife Marie was recovering from a fall.

 

NEXT WEEK:  Ms. Roxanne Johnson, Executive Director of the YWCA.

 

VISITING:  PDG Paul Little had his lovely wife, “Red” – Martha. Lions Hubert and Libby Gleason shared credit for their son Trey.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

¨      Alexandria’s Clarion Hotel is the site for the Eye Foundation’s next Board Meeting.  It will be at 2:00 p.m. on August 21st and NSLC Lion Gloria Kennedy will be duly installed as the Board President.  Congrats to Gloria!!!  The club will be presenting the foundation with $3,500 from our budgeted monies and $1,000 of memorials for Lion Craig Kennedy.

¨      Lion Robert Schwartz announced the birth of Lion Patricia Schwartz’s 8lb., 20 inch, grand baby boy. Meanwhile, Lion Cindy Fortson announced the arrival of her 6/15 grand baby this past Monday.  CONGRATULATIONS NEW GRANDPARENTS !!!

¨      The BIG BASS RODEO will be the last Saturday in September.

¨      Lion Ed Stevenson has posted the menu for the coming weeks.

 

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Archambeau again had PDG Paul Little holding the pot.  Lion Pete Copes was assessed for square dancing in a women’s bonnet.  Lion Russ Peterson was fined for wearing matching sox.  Lion Jerry Paige was fined for wearing too small of a Lions pin. Lion Cindy Fortson was fined for announcing her aforementioned grandchild. The usual late comers were fined and we were hit with a deluge of questions about Shreveport/Bossier – most of which we could not answer to Lion TT Archambeau’s satisfaction.

 

PROGRAM: Lion Oscar Smith introduced Mr. Reggie Hodge, Mr. Hodge is a retired Marine and a division manager at SPAR.  Mr. Hodge gave us a message he call “It’s Reclamation Time”.  Time to take back our young men and women.  Our children are turning from integrity and correctness and toward violence, crime etc. We must be leaders and examples to our next generation.  It is our responsibility and looking to the future, if we don’t lead today there will be no future.  The Bible provides our guide.  We should show youngsters the error of their ways in order to get them back on track.  Lead by example.  Mr. Hodge praised the NSLC for being an example for others.  Always be mindful the youngsters are always watching. 

 

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions  Gloria Kennedy and Paul Little.  

 

BLUE TICKET:  Lion  Hubert Gleason failed to pull the Queen, but the 8 of clubs is no longer a possibility.

 

ATTENDANCE: Lion Gary Kennedy would have won the attendance prize but he was not present.
