NOTES/Remarks:

• Political Commentator Moon Griffon will be broadcasting live from the Bossier Club next Thursday, September 4^th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Lets all help them to have a big turnout and help to spread the word of Lionism.

• The Chicken Charbroil will be on October 9^th and distribution of the birds will occur on Friday, October 10^th. Lions Mike Middleton and PDG Bryan Self will chair. Also, the next week Lion Mike is asking for any volunteers to help on another project October 15^th thru 18^th. This will be to cook pork ribs to help benefit, the Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Special Olympics – Louisiana.
• Big Bass Rodeo… Sell tickets and the Rodeo is September 27^th.
• October 25^th 8-L Fall Conference, Ramada on Monkhouse Drive.
• February 14^th is the planning day for an event at the Auto Museum to advertise the car to be sold during the 2004-2005 year. Lion Craig Kennedy is working on the details.
• Concern was expressed about the recent comment in Tell The Times about someone not being able to make contact with Lions to donate glasses… For your information, our Sight Chairman is Lion Oscar Smith.
• Lion Scott Harkey made pin presentations for perfect attendance to the following: Lions Bill Archambeau (2001-2002 & 2002-2003), Gene Bacon (2001-2002), Ed Ball (2002-2003), Steve Davitt (2002-2003), Hubert Gleason (2001-2002 & 2002-2003), Lion Gene Bacon (2001-2002), Lion Scott Harkey (2001-2002 & 2002-2003), Craig Kennedy (2001-2002 & 2002-2003), Gloria Kennedy (2001-2002), Mike Middleton (2001-2002 & 2002-2003), Patricia Schwartz (2002-2003), Robert Schwartz (2001-2002 & 2002-2003), Charles Smith (2002-2003), Ed Stevenson (2002-2003) and Bryan Self (2001-2002 and 2002-2003). Thanks and congratulations to all of these with perfect attendance!!!!!!!!!

Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Steve Davitt serving as the pot-man. A lot of nit-picking things (that is the TT’s job). Then the TT went off on his Who Wants To Be a Millionaire questions – most were television trivia. He got lots of fines and lots of discussions and laughs.

Program: Lion PDG² Paul Little introduced District 8-L Governor Bonnie Pharr. She gave an update on the financial situations at the Camp and the Foundation. She reviewed many ways clubs can participate in her club contests and how to earn needed points. She hopes to have five new clubs to startup in 2003-2004. She wants lots of emphasis placed on the Leo Club projects. She plans to have the Leos to participate in the upcoming Fall Conference. Leo Clubs do not have to be associated with a school – it can be church groups, scout groups or any other way we can assemble kids from 12-18 years old. The Governor congratulated NSLC on the many things we have done in support of Lionism and its projects. Everyone should get everyone in the Club to be involved. Let’s take on more projects and simply do more. The Governor brought some prizes which were given as door prizes: Lion Gene Bacon won some pliers and Lion Jerry Paige won a nice candleholder.

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Ed Stevenson and Craig Kennedy.

BLUE TICKET: Lion Charlie Smith drew the 7 of diamonds - the pot is over $158!

Attendance Prize: Lion Herb Harlan was not in attendance so the pot is growing.

MAJOR PROJECTS: Louisiana Lions Childrens’ Camp, LSU Lions’ Eye Foundation, Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools
