PDG Jimmie noted that Lion Gloria Kennedy is in the hospital with double pneumonia. Please, no calls or visits at this time per request of PDG Craig. Lions Bob Allen and Gabby Garbarino are also under the weather.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS: September 11^th, Lion Kevin Anderson will present Lion Todd Buffington (Minden Club)- and a supervisor with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries; September 18^th Lion PDG Jimmie Giles will present himself; September 25^th Lion Robert Schwartz will feature Shreveport Police Department Chief Mike Campbell. BOARD MEETING - NEXT WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10^th at 12:00 noon - Bring Your Own Lunch.
President Ed Ball reminded everyone that even non-board members can attend the Board Meeting. He asked that you call him at 222-5415 and let him know of business you’d like placed on the agenda for discussion.
Prez Ball acknowledged the club’s appreciation to Lions Steve and Rubye Davitt for the contribution of a refrigerator to the North Shreveport Lions Club.

Big Bass Rodeo- Sell tickets and the Rodeo is September 27^th.
The Chicken Charbroil will be on October 9^th and distribution of the birds will occur on Friday, October 10^th. Lions Mike Middleton and PDG Bryan Self will chair. Also, the next week Lion Mike is asking for any volunteers to help on another project October 15^th thru 18^th. This will be to cook pork ribs to help benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Special Olympics - Louisiana.
October 25^th 8-L Fall Conference, Ramada on Monkhouse Drive. 8-L Governor Bonnie Pharr is asking for us to have as many people as possible for the Conference.

Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Oscar Smith waving the pot. Birthday songs were sung to Lions Libby Gleason, Bud Byrd and Bryan Self. Congratulations for matrimonial anniversaries to Lions Bill Archambeau and Dot and Oscar Smith and Willette. The club’s official Lion Steve Davitt-set clock was noted as showing Prez Ball with a “trifle” late start. Today’s Who Wants To Be a Millionaire questions were at the $250,000 level and were a bit tough - Lion Stuart Reeks is a popular lifeline, unless of course, you are speaking sports questions - that is Lion Oscar Smith.

Program: Lion PDG Bryan Self introduced an all time favorite Mr. Bob Griffin. Bob gave some updates on some locally popular sports teams - The Saints, Cowboys, Grambling and LSU Tiger. He specifically commented on last week’s LA Tech vs. Miami game. Tech, other than a foolish several turnover, really didn’t play that bad. Thanks Bryan and Bob for a great program. (Editor’s note: I had to go to a sheriff’s office meeting and had to leave early, so the details are few. Also, my thanks to Lion Jimmie Giles for allowing me as his guest to the game).

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Gene Bacon and Rubye Davitt.

BLUE TICKET: Lion Charlie Smith again failed to draw the correct Queen.

Attendance Prize: Lion Scott Harkey was not in attendance so the pot is growing.
