Opening:  Presiding: First Vice-President Lion Oscar Smith; Prayer: Lion Jimmie Giles; Pledge: Lion Bud Byrd; Song: Lion Bryan Self, Lion Scott Harkey sounding the cymbals and Lion Mike Middleton setting the tone with the Chromatic Pitch Instrument.

 

PRAYERS:  Dot Archambeau, Lion Rubye Davitt -- All Lions present and absent – especially those impacted by Hurricane “Hurricane Katrina” and the debut of “Hurricane Rita”.  Lion Pete Copes told the club Lion Stu and wife, Susan are doing well with their newborn.

 

VISITING:  Lion Scott Harkey had his daughter, E.D.

 

NEXT WEEK’S PROGRAM:  Lion Bud Byrd will host his wife, Lion Nita Byrd.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Lion Oscar Smith publicly acknowledged the club’s appreciation to Lion Pete Copes for the program last week featuring his daughter – the topic was on organ donations.
  • Bass Tournament cancelled because of on-going weather woes.  The drawing for the boat is postponed but should occur in the next two weeks.
  • Chicken Charbroil (10/6-7) Please continue to sell tickets. If you know any restaurants which will donate the packets with fork, knife, spoon, salt, pepper and napkin we’ll save $$$$... It will be okay if we have several suppliers – they don’t have to match (Lion Mike)
  • October 11thCub Sight Program at First Baptist Blanchard.  Eighty-six kids are expected and this was setup by Lion Jim Peck.  Lion Gloria Kennedy needs our help for this project.

 

Tailtwisting:  Lion Archambeau appointed Lion Bryan Self as the potboy.  Lion Pete Copes was assessed $2.50 for winning the attendance prize and additional assessments for not clearing his plate from the table last week.  A few were fined for arriving today. 

 

PROGRAM:   Lion Trey Gleason introduced who’s name we most associate as a KEEL Radio Channel News Anchor Mr. Mike Sieve.  Though, his voice may be heard on any of the local six (6) Clear Channel Radio stations.  The local radio market has about 20 stations owned by three companies. Mike spoke about how ownership and delivery of radio broadcasts have changed in the last years – particularly, after 9-1-1.  He related some stories from 9-1-1 and about the recent occurrences of Hurricane Katrina. 

 

Ticket Drawings: The $5.00 red ticket winners were: Lions Ed Ball and Trey Gleason.

 

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Bill Archambeau failed to pull the winning Queen  -- next week $202.00+.

 

ATTENDANCE: Lion Robert Schwartz was not here to claim the attendance prize.
