NOTES/Remarks:

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Paul Little carrying the potty.  Several late: Lions Bryan Self, Larry LaBorde, Pete Smith, and Alan Yokem.  Lion Scott told a joke dealing with the “Clintons” and the TT read a Cajun-related joke provided last week by Lion Oscar Smith.  Then he went into his trivia-questions at the $2,000 level.

Program:  Lion robert Schwartz presented Shreveport Police Chief Mike Campbell.  Mike is a 29-year veteran of the department and was appointed as Chief in July 2003.  His experience includes directing the SPD Regional Training Academy.  Mike has served in both the Air Force and Army.  He is an alum of the FBI National Academy and Louisiana Tech.  He has been married to Jeri for over 27 years and they have one daughter, Stephanie who will soon be graduating from Nichol State in Culinary Arts – he is proud and very happy.

SPD has a $37 million budget – over 80% of the budget to personnel; over 235,000 calls (about 20,000 per month) were responded to in 2002 by over 500 officers.  Mike is committed to Customer Service and accountability. Over the last years, the FBI statistics show a slight crime decrease for Shreveport.  Mike has extended his commanders to work all shifts so the shift workers will know who they (the commanders) are and have them right there on the scenes.
