October 25^th 8-L Fall Conference, Ramada on Monkhouse Drive. 8-L Governor Bonnie Pharr is asking for us to have as many people as possible for the Conference. Please sign-up right away.
The Eye Foundation will be having a raffle for Sugar Bowl tickets and a New Orleans condo.
Lion Robert Schwartz reminded everyone we need to arrange with daycare facilities to screen their children. Anyone can setup such a screening – call Lion Robert to learn more.

Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau fined all who failed to see his picture in the newspaper. He fined Lion Jimmie for reciting the pledge too fast. Lion Gary Kennedy was allowed an opportunity to tell some jokes, then, onto trivia.

Program: Lion Oscar Smith introduced the speaker, Mr. Eddie Rivera with Soldiers of Compassion Outreach. He discussed mentoring program to where they use volunteers to mentor troubled kids. It takes about three hours a month for the volunteers. He cited many crime statistics in which Louisiana ranked at the top or near the top in per capita crime. He stated that mentors must pass a background check and that kids who don’t want to participate in the program are not kept in the program.

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Scott Harkey and Hubert Gleason.

BLUE TICKET: Lion Jerry Paige failed to draw the Queen of Hearts – the pot was $215.

Attendance Prize: Lion Chuck Strickland was not present to collect.
