October 10, 2002
Opening: President Max Lipscomb conducted
the meeting. Lion Bob Allen provided the Blessing and asked God for continued guidance. Lion Mike Middleton
volunteered to lead the First Verse and Lion Paul
Little played the cymbals. Lion Gloria Kennedy
asked to be allowed to lead the Pledge -- and she did a great job!
Visitors: Visiting the club today with Lion Paul Little
was Mr. Bill Bradford of Crown Dental.
Also visiting were Lions (PDG) Ed Kneipp and Pat Kneipp. Great having ya’ll today and come back soon.
Special presentation: PDG Ed Kneipp made a special presentation to Mr. Bill
Bradford. The award was a lifetime
membership to the Lions Louisiana Childrens’ Camp. Mr. Bradford has been very supportive
of the many projects conducted by NSLC and District 8-L as a whole. Thanks Bill for all you do.
Remarks: Lion President Max
Lipscomb reminded us of this week’s
District 8-L meeting at Isle of Capri Hotel in Bossier City. He briefed the
club that Lion Craig Kennedy had asked for money to help the startup the Green Oaks High School Leo Club --
the board has approved $250 for the project.
Lion Stuart Reeks was thanked in absentia for assuming the
duties as the NSLC liaison for the Camp.
Lion Bryan Self gave an update on today’s annual Chicken
Charbroil – everything is moving along.
By the time you read this, it will be hopefully over. Lion
Paul Little is the top seller of
tickets at 487; Lion TT Bill
Archambeau is #2 with 152 sold
tickets.
Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill
Archambeau
fined latecomers with Lion Gabby Garbarino
serving as the collector of fines.
Several members were fined for being late. The TT did some trivia questions, which were provided to him by Lion Hubert Gleason. The members knew most of
the answers although some were answered in collusion with other members.
Program: Lion PDG Hubert Gleason
presented United States Marine Captain Larry Adams. Captain Adams mentioned his passions as his family,
baseball and his U.S. Marine Corps. Adams gave an update on his unit’s activities at
Guantanamo Bay Cuba and their assignment to provide security on that post. Part of his Company “B” is assigned to the
Bossier City Base and some of them are located out of San Antonio, Texas. It sounds like Guantanamo Bay resembles some
of the lands west of San Antonio. It
was a very interesting presentation and I apologize more notes were not
obtained – but that can be the downside of missing a club meeting when such a
great presenter is here.
Ticket
Drawings: $5.00 red ticket winners

Attendace

have been Lion Jerry Paige.
