Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nation’s Safety”

October 30, 2003

Opening:  Presiding: President Lion Ed Ball; Prayer: Lion Jim Peck; Pledge: Lion Paul Little; Leading the song was Lion Bill Archambeau with Lion Gloria Kennedy sounding the cymbals and Lion Robbie Raiford tickling the ivory.

UPCOMING PROGRAMS:  Next week (11/6): Surprise by Lion Stuart Reeks.  November 20th: Lion Bob Moss from the Childrens Camp.  PLEASE – FULFILL YOUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR CLUB AND LIONISM -- ATTEND YOUR MEETINGS!

Visitors: Introduced by long-time friend Lion Craig Kennedy, Mr. Bob Hamm was in attendance.  Twenty-one members were in attendance.

NOTES/Remarks:

Tailtwisting:  Lion TT Bill Archambeau had Lion Paul Little passing the pot.  Those late included: Lions Patricia Schwartz, Alan Yokem, Oscar Smith and Pete Copes.  The Prez was fined for a late start of the meeting.  Trivia questions dealing with television were then used to generate funds.

Program:  Lion Craig Kennedy introduced Mr. Joe Pierce.  A recent study showed some shortcomings of our area in leadership and cooperation to continue a healthy growth of our community.    Joe speaks much faster than The Yellow Rag editor can take notes.  Better communications needs to take place between the public and private sector in order to have a viable plan  -- an all-inclusive mindset has to be put into action. The 400-page plan is: FINDING THE HIGH COMMON GROUND and is available at www.lsus.edu/cber.

Ticket Drawings: The red ticket winners were: Lions Rubye Davitt and Bryan Self.

BLUE TICKET:  Lion Jerry Paige failed to draw the Queen of Hearts – nearing $300 next week.

Attendance Prize: Lion Bill Alexander was not present to collect the pot.

MAJOR PROJECTS: Louisiana Lions Childrens’ Camp, LSU Lions’ Eye Foundation, Northwest Louisiana Eye Bank, Louisiana Association for the Blind, Northwood High School Leo Club, Scholarships for Northwood and Green Oaks High Schools

FUNDRAISERS:  Chicken Charbroil – October; Candy & Nuts – November;

Irish Auction – March; Rose Sale – April
