OPENING: President Max Lipscomb called the meeting to order. He asked Lion Chaplain Jim Peck to give the
Blessing. Lion Stuart Reeks led us in
the Pledge – and he did it without error.
Lion Bryan Self waved the baton for the First Verse while Lion Paul
Little played the cymbals and Lion Robbie on the piano.
VISITORS: Several visitors on-board for today’s meeting and they were here
on behalf of Lion Bill Spickerman: Ms.
Pat Gregory, and from Goodwill, Mr. Robby Robertson, Ms. Ta-Ta Kochinskey and
Ms. Bobbie Hodges – A BIG WELCOME TO ALL OF TODAY’S VISITORS.
REMARKS: Lion Bryan Self would still like to get some more money from the
Chicken Charbroil (if you are still “holding”) Bryan noted the CCB profit to be
nearly $6,000 – way to go Bryan. Lion
Max noted that the next Zone 1-A meeting will be at Willis-Knighton’s Community
Center on November 19th at 6:30 p.m….
Lion Hubert Gleason announced that he
has more order brochures for the nut and candy project. He also noted some great news: Lion Mary
Howe has to-date sold more than $2,000 of the product – although she couldn’t
be at today’s meeting, the Club gave her a round-of-applause.
There were a few reminders about next
Tuesday’s election –
PLEASE, GET OUT AND VOTE – RESPONSIBLY !!!
TAILTWISTING: Lion TT Bill Archambeau got several for
tardiness. And, they were very late:
Lions Lisa (Car) Nash, Larry LaBorde and really, really late – Lion Oscar
Smith. The TT then auctioned off gallon
cans of Bush Baked Beans, which were left over from the CCB – the winners were
Lions Scott Harkey and Paul Little.
Some fining was done to Lions Charles Smith and Hubert Gleason regarding
the TT’s special chair… Lion Gabby Garbarino was fined for having a chauffer
service today…. Lion Gene Bacon was noted for using paper clamps on her
Styrofoam dessert carrier. Lion Bryan
was fined for misquoting Lion Paul Little for the cymbals playing. Then, the trivia questions were asked of
many – it seems that Lion Kevin Anderson is a great lifeline on many of the
questions which are – uhhhhhhhhh – way out there.
PROGRAM: Lion Bill Spickerman presented our program. Ms. “J. J.” Jennifer Williams presented
information on GES – Goodwill Employment Solutions. They provide several programs for potential employers to be
matched with prospective employees. Job
training can be provided in many cases for no charge. For more information, contact J.J. or Robby Robertson at 318.868.7401 or robbyr@eastex.net.
They have goals of teaching people
self-image and to help encourage people to obtain and retain their jobs – great
programs that are very needed in our area.
