NOTES/Remarks:
Tailtwisting: President Ed Ball was fined for late meeting start. Trivia questions followed.
Program: Lion Bud Byrd introduced Bob Moss
from the Lions Childrens Camp after Lion Bud warned us about being careful
when dealing with travel agents. Lion Dud mentioned his misadventure with
what seemed to be a reputable agent. Mr. Moss regretted the loss of Camp financial
support from South Louisiana Bingo revenues. However, Bob did not dwell on
this problem and began telling the history of the Camp. The Camps charter
was signed in 1975 and the search fro a campsite began. The Leesville Lions
Club donated 100 acres of land and the Camp opened in 1961 with 4 buildings.
Now the Camp has 170 acres with about 40 buildings. Mr. Moss then presented
a slideshow of the Camp facilities and activities.
Because
of financial problems, the Camp has had to eliminate the session for the young
adults. It was felt that would be the least painful session to cut because
these campers had all been to the camp before.
A very
good program for a very worthwhile project.
