1434 Hawn Avenue. |

Rag Editor

Opening: Lion Stuart Reeks assumed
the Presidential duties. He appointed Lion Bob Allen to provide the prayer and food blessing. Lion Patricia Schwartz led
the club in the Pledge. Lion Bryan Self conducted the First Verse with Lion Charlie Smith playing the pan-lid-cymbals.
Visitors: There
were two visitors: Summer Grove Lion James
Rhodes presented by Lion
Craig Kennedy; Lion Gene Bacon presented her
daughter-in-law Mary Bacon; 23 members were present.
Remarks: Lion Hubert Gleason has the candy and nuts at his home
576 Oneonta Street – phone number is 869-3809 – just call before you go
by. Lion Craig Kennedy reminded
everyone about “The Book” which we sell for $35.00 each. “The Book” – is a coupon book offering an
estimated $3,500 in savings through local restaurants and other events-
(remember the “Let’s Eat” books?) Cost
is $35.00 and the club can make a good profit if we help sell a bunch of them –
100 books equals $1,400 profit for the club.
Hopefully, we should sell at least one per member because everyone eats
or visits many of the places in the book – you will recover your cost of the
book through the many savings – they would also make a great stocking
stuffer. Christmas Party/Meeting will
be on December 19th – let Lion Mike Middleton know if you and
a spouse/whoever will attend with you.
The cost will be $10.00 per person.
You can call Mike and leave a message anytime of the day at
318.681.0630.

Tailtwisting: Lion TT Bill Archambeau was given many fining opportunities today for tardiness, not wearing pins, and many varying conversational groups which were distracting the TT. Lions Mike Middleton and Kevin Anderson were fined for mis-communications on Yellow Rag distribution. Then he got lots of money for his entertainment trivia and ridicules.
Program: Lion Bill Spickerman introduced Gary L. Calligas. Gary produces Senior Scene News – “A monthly
Resource Guide for Adults over 50”. He
also hosts “Senior Scene Saturday” heard each Saturday morning at 9:00
a.m. on KEEL Radio 710. Gary works to give people information about many areas
that affect everyone’s lives with emphasis on senior citizen information. Last week’s KEEL program talked about scams
that are being applied and people are losing money and assets. One person in Shreveport recently lost
$300,000 -- this was a product of the Nigerian letter scam. Another scam proliferating our society is
where letters are sent to the estates of the deceased stating that the deceased
owes their company money. As always,
the bottom line is: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Be careful and don’t be a victim. This
week’s program (12/14) will be a director from the Louisiana Department of
Insurance talking about long-term care insurance – tune in. Contact information: Website: www.seniorsceneonline.com and his
email address is GLCALLIG@hotmail.com. His phone numbers are: 636.5510 and cell phone number is
347.6839. Snail-mail: P.O. Box 19510,
Shreveport, LA 71149-0510.
