VOLUME XCLV No.26                                                                     January 31, 2002

OPENING ACTS:  Lion President MIKE MIDDLETON asked Life Lion CHARLIE SMITH to lead us in prayer.  New Lion JENNIE MOORE led the 1st verse of AMERICA with Life Lion SMITH playing the famous NSLC cymbals.  Not a bad job for her first time.  New Lion TREY MOORE led the Pledge of Allegiance without a single mistake.  Must have been a Boy Scout once.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Lion J. MOORE told us the next Irish Auction will be March 15th at Holiday Inn Downtown.  Admission is $9.  Be gathering things to auction – either your possession or a contribution.  Remember, this is one of the ways we make our money…. ZONE MEETING—Feb.4th – Willis-Knighton Education Center – 5:30 p.m….8-L FALL CONFERENCE—Minden—2 p.m. Feb. 10.  IPDG HUBERY GLEASON reported a profit of $649.38 from the nut sale.  Lions BOB and PAT SCHWARTZ told us to watch for them on “bottom right side of the DUNGEONS and DRAGONS float – Saturday night—Clyde Fant Parkway.

TAILTWISTING:  One of the two things happened—either TT Archambeau did not read the RAG last week or he forgot today.  (There is NO Tailtwisting report in last week’s RAG.)  Today, Lion TT began by fining Lion BILL ALEXANDER who was the program chairman.  Why?  Lion BILL came in AFTER his speaker.  The next thing that caught our ear was the discussion among several Lions at the same table in re to MR. LABORDE (Larry’s father) who told them he recognized the pot used to collect fines in.  It seems it belonged to LARRY when he was a little boy.  Lion LARRY insists that is why he has to put so many fines in it.  Lion TT had some of those questions that he is using to make us smart.  We answered a few.

THE PROGRAM:  Lion Program Chairman BILL ARCHAMBEAU introduced Reverend HENRY MARTIN, the Executive Director of SHREVEP0RT-BOSSIER RESCUE MISSION.  He gave us facts and figures that chilled our bones.  There is an average of 80,000 (that’s 4 zeroes) per night in the U.S.  ---  Shreveport-Bossier averages well over 58 per night and that is just the men.  Single women, some with children, is the fastest increase as/of this year.  Rev. MARTIN feels that GOD wants him to increase the facilities for men and build one for women.  The Mission has acquired (gifts) of acreage on McNeil Street which consists of 5.25 acres.  The downtown merchants are protesting loud and long.  However, the Reverend has faith and he says both facilities will be built.  If you have some free money, no matter how little, how about putting the Mission on our list?

NEXT WEEK:  Lion MARY HOWE has the program next week.  We could not reach her on the phone therefore we don’t know who.

GUESTS:  WE looked for one but found none.  Same thing last week.  What’s the matter?

THE WINNERS:  Lion GLORIA left early and, of course, her name was drawn for the Attendance Prize.  Lions LIPSCOMB & GARBARINO had the red ticket numbers therefore they are $5 richer.  Lion TT ARCHAMBEAU had the shot at the pot with his blue ticket but no luck.

TIL NEXT WEEK, THAT’S ALL SHE WROTE
