Opening:  President Max Lipscomb asked Lion Bill Alexander to lead the prayer and to remember Lion Jimmie Giles and wife Betty; and the family of Lion Theo Hutches’ family.   Lion Theo passed away this last week and he was the next-to-last of the NSLC Charter Members…  Lion Robert Schwartz led the club in the Pledge…  Lion Paul Little conducted the club’s musicians and the club in the First Verse.  Lion Robbie Raiford played the piano and Lion Gabby Garbarino did the cymbals.

Visitors:  Lion James Rhodes was introduced by PDG Bud Byrd.  Lion Rhodes is a Lion from the Shady Summer Grove Lions Club.  PDG Ed Kneipp was introduced by PDG Hubert Gleason.  PDG Kneipp is from the West Shreveport Lions Club… Lion Alan Yokem was accompanied by his eldest son, Robert Yokem

Special Presentation:  PDG Kneipp presented Lion Robert Schwartz a special plaque for his work as Region Chairman of the Cub Sight Program. Lion Gloria Kennedy was also recognized for her Cub Sight work. Thanks Robert for your devotion in seeing nearly 1,000 kids were screened…  PDG Kneipp also gave to the club a banner for the Cub Sight work we have done….

Remarks:  Lion Mike Middleton ask everyone to be patient with Lion Kevin Anderson (and Mike) as we strive to get the Yellow Rags out to everyone either in the snail mail or U.S. Mail.  Thanks for your patience…. Lion Gloria Schwartz thanked all members who showed up last weekend at Lowe’s and sold 1,422 tickets for the BASS TOURNAMENT boat.  The boat sells for over $21,000.

Tailtwisting:  TT Archambeau got the usual fines for small things and the late ones… Lion Paul Little fined for not for waiting Lions Robbie and Gabby to be ready for the FIRST VERSE…. TT jumped on today’s speaker (Lion Mayor Dement) for not wearing a lapel pin… Lion James Rhodes was fined for possession of an illegal sign (Shady Summer Grove Lions Club sign)….  The TT then recited some old comments regarding the costs of living today as opposed to yesterday…. Sometimes fined and sometimes not fined for either right or wrong trivia questions:  Lions Bob Allen, Robbie Raiford, Charlyne Langton, Charlie Smith, Russ Peterson, Kevin Anderson, Gloria Kennedy, Robert Schwartz and Alan Yokem.

Program:  PDG Bryan Self introduced Bossier City Mayor (and Lion) George Dement.  The Mayor started with his usual light-heartedness and jokes.  Then he started on his Best City – Bossier City.  He had a lot to talk about:  Louisiana Downs; Gambling is now in Bossier City; a new
Bossier Parish Community College Campus on the east outskirts of Bossier City; First Baptist Church of Bossier City is undergoing a $10 million expansion; new bridges and by-passes for the streets hampered by trains; the widening of Traffic Street which will be considered the “gateway” for Bossier City; Riverwalk a 56 acre project which will be anchored by the Bass Pro Shop; CenturyTel Arena – whew a lot going on in BC.. Keep up the good city, Mayor/Lion Dement.

Ticket Drawings:  $5.00 red ticket winners were:  Lion Steve Davitt and wife, Rubye.  Blue ticket drawer was Lion Gene Bacon.

Attendance Prize:  It would have been Lion Herb Harlan.
