 		  Thank you for visiting the North Shreveport Lions Club! We are proud that year 2002 marks our 50th anniversary of association with the world's largest service organization. There are over 1.4 million members of Lionism throughout the world. (We assume you are familiar with Lionism; but if you aren't, click here for a historical perspective.)

The North Shreveport Lions Club meets every Thursday from 12:00 noon until 12:55 p.m. We have 70 members. Our clubroom is located in D&W Business Center at 1434 Hawn Avenue (two blocks east of North Market and Freestate Drive) (click here for map and directions ). The meal cost is $6.00 and is catered by Jack's Barbecue.

Our meetings are open to the public. We are always seeking potential members, however, new members must be recommended by a current Lion. The dues are about $120 per year.

Our meeting format:

  • 12:00 - 12:03 - Meeting starts

                                  Prayer Invocation

                                  "America" - first verse

                                  Pledge of Allegiance

  • 12:03 -12:15 - Recognition of guests

                                  Club business and announcements

  • 12:15 - 12:30 - Tailtwisting - The tailtwisting session is all about fun.  This time is also used for recognition of members' birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  It is a major highlight of the meeting.
  • 12:30 - 12:50 - Program- Each week a club member serves as the Program Chairman.  The Chairman invites and introduces a speaker.  Topics range from politics to other service organizations and even occasionally investment professionals.
  • 12:50 - 12:55 - Two $5 raffle drawings; A drawing to win a small pot of money by drawing the "Queen" of Hearts;  Attendance drawing (members must be present and wearing the Lion badge).
  • 12:55 - Meeting adjourned.
